The 3D Printing for Dummies book has been out at Amazon.com since the 13th of January, 2014. Amazon finally added my co-author’s name but is still working on proper credit for his involvement.
I had been a fan of Richard’s work with RepRap 3D printers over in the United Kingdom, particularly his design for the Universal Paste Extruder that can be used to deposit gels and food pastes using a standard RepRap system. When he accepted my invitation to write the RepRap build portion of our book, I was thrilled and over the course of the book’s creation, he also had time to complete his own new printer design – the 3DR RepRap.
I am enjoying the construction of several 3DR printers in my STEM workshops for educators and young learners.
For now, our book is doing well – in fact, it got rated as a #1 Best Seller according to Amazon.com, which is the first time I have seen that particular tag. This was very gratifying because this book is also the first one I have written from personal interest rather than professional experience.
It is truly magnificent to work with someone you really admire, writing about a subject that had been personally fascinating since I first saw it on a “New Tech” show back in the 1980’s! If you ever have the chance to write a book – Write about what you love!
